Amber Mack
My passion for helping children with special needs started when I was only ten years old. I was selected by the administrators of my middle school to assist special needs children during gym class. My efforts continued through high school when I became a student leader. In college I studied to become a Certified Nurse Assistant and then became a Registered Nurse so that I could continue to provide compassionate care to those in need.
My calling for dance began at the age of fourteen. After watching The Nutcracker on TV I told my mom that I wanted to be a ballerina. We checked out a book and I learned the basics. I stood in the back of the class and hung on the teachers every word. After four short years I earned a talent scholarship to college and was signed to my ballet company before I even graduated.
Being a professional ballerina has given me grace, poise, and confidence. It has also taught me to never give up on my dreams no matter how late in life you start. I am blessed to have traveled the country while sharing my passion. My children are also in dance classes and I love that they are in the arts. My dream is to have my whole family on stage during The Nutcracker.
I meet my husband in 2006 on the website, Craigslist. After communicating through email for six months we arranged to meet in person. I had him sit next to my entire family so that they could enjoy my ballet performance together. I got a call at intermission from my sister saying that they had just met the nicest guy. Needless to say we were engaged six months later and have been happily married since.
