Nicole Palmer
1. The Palmer family is very diverse. Joe and I have 2 beautiful daughters, Alyssa and Jordan. Plus we have 3 boys that we have mentored since elementary school. Joe was their fifth grade teacher and basketball coach. They are all grown adults, have college degrees, and are great role models to our girls. The girls refer to them as their “big brothers.” Rounding out our family is our dog, Biggie!
2. Basketball is a huge part of our family! Joe and I met at half court of a basketball court. He currently coaches for our school district and our daughter Jordan’s travel team. March Madness is like a national holiday in our house! We enjoy playing basketball in the backyard as a family. Two of our boys play professionally. We even had chocolate basketballs on the table at our wedding!
3. Our family is very passionate about providing quality education to AIDS orphans. We currently sponsor 2 children through the international organization AOET-USA, AOET-Uganda. Esther and Amir attend public school, wear uniforms, are guaranteed one meal a day, and receive health insurance in their village in Uganda through our child sponsorship. As a teacher and Joe as an elementary principal we believe that every child deserves an education.
4. I grew up in a military family. My father is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force. I was born and raised in the south before settling in New York. Although I consider myself a southern gal at heart, I am proud to call New York home. From the excitement of New York City to the changing of the leaves in upstate NY, there is nothing like being a New Yorker!
