1.If you were famous what would your stage name be?
After beginning their lives in the NICU, my children are little survivors. From life-flight helicopters to incubation, today they are all happy and healthy. The time we spend together playing games around our kitchen table is priceless after being so close to losing them.
2.If you would attend a celebrity wedding which, would it be?
I went back to school this year to finish my degree, and I will be transitioning into a role that allows a more flexible schedule to spend time with family and to grow my non-profit organization, Pumping for Preemies. My ultimate plan is to run Pumping for Preemies full-time, and my first step is to raise $10,000 to fund the Charitable Care program.
3.What is the weirdest gift you’ve ever received?
Being a parent to little kids on Christmas morning is a wonderful feeling! I love the way their eyes light up as they run downstairs at sunrise. The first thing my husband and I do is brew a pot of holiday coffee and light the fireplace before we settle in to soak in all the magic and excitement.
4.What is the most random fact you know?
While my oldest daughter was hospitalized as a newborn, our insurance denied coverage for donor human milk – which she desperately needed. I decided then that no mom should feel the helplessness I did because of lack of access to nutrition and medication. I realized that each one of us can make a difference and decided to draft a bill requiring insurance coverage for every NICU baby, every time.
5.What is the one thing you’ll never do again?
Every afternoon, my husband calls me on his drive home from work. We usually talk the whole way home until the time he walks in the door. I love the way his voice sounds when he says hello, because I can hear the smile on his face and how happy he is to be coming home.
